About this service

What autism-informed supported living means

Autism-informed supported living is care designed around how the person experiences the world not how a generic care plan assumes they do.

For us, that means three things: environments that are sensory-aware and predictable; routines that the person leads and trusts; and communication delivered in the way that works best for them.

We support autistic adults across the full spectrum, including those who are non-speaking, those with co-occurring learning disabilities, and those with high support needs. We are neurodiversity-affirming: autism isn't something to be fixed. The plan is built around the person's strengths and the support they want.

Neurodiversity-affirming

Autism isn't a deficit to fix. The plan is built around the person's strengths, sensory profile, and what they actually want not a list of things to overcome.

Our approach

Our approach to autism support

Neurodiversity-affirming

Autism isn't a deficit to fix. The plan is built around the person's strengths, sensory profile, and what they actually want.

Low-arousal practice

Calm voices, predictable transitions, no forced eye contact, and respect for personal space.

Sensory profiling

Every plan starts with a sensory assessment what helps, what overwhelms, and what the person needs in their environment.

Total communication

AAC, signing, visuals, symbols, written prompts, social stories whatever works best for the individual.

Positive behaviour support (PBS)

Behaviour communicates a need. We listen first, respond proactively, and never punish distress.

For the first time, the team understood that the routine is the support. They didn't try to talk my brother out of it.

Their sensory profiling and PBS plans are the most thorough I've seen from a supported living provider.
